ANNUAL MEETING
October 15th
7:30PM at the First Congregational Church

The Old Greenwich Association Hosts its annual meeting and community forum in the First Congregational Church on Sound Beach Avenue at 7:30 p.m.  The evening will feature Dr. Sidney A. Freund, newly installed Superintendent of Schools, and Mr. Bruce Spaman, Superintendent of Parks & Trees.

During an informal coffee, residents will be able to talk one-on-one with Dr. Freund, Mr. Spaman, and invited local political candidates. This will be followed by presentations from both speakers and a Question & Answer session.

 Opportunities and Challenges

The OGA has put together an evening that address two of the jewels of Old Greenwich: the schools and the open spaces.  The meeting will be one of the first open forums that residents will have to hear from Greenwich’s new Schools Superintendent.  Dr. Freund will discuss educational opportunities, the challenges the community faces, and his vision for the future.  Bruce Spaman may be less visible to town residents, but his imprint can be seen at every turn in the green spaces and trees.  For the past seven years, Spaman has overseen the maintenance of all fields, playgrounds and parks, including Binney Park and Greenwich Point. These latter two properties constitute a significant portion of Old Greenwich’s open space and recreational areas.

David Rafferty, president of the OGA Board of Directors, notes, “Attendance at our meetings has grown noticeably in the past few years as we bring speakers of great importance to our residents’ doorstep.  People move here to enjoy something that is unique today: an understated, warm, atmosphere. We invite town officials into the heart of our community to meet with our homeowners and address their questions, and we anticipate that we will once again have a strong turn-out.”

The OGA has a long history of putting together public forums under the guiding premise that a community that speaks with one voice will be heard. The October 15th meeting is a chance for residents to come together to listen, learn, and inquire.

The Old Greenwich Association is a local-residents association with a volunteer board whose key objective is to monitor quality of life issues in Old Greenwich.  The association has been involved in community activities for over 40 years.  First Congregational Church is located at 108 Sound Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich; the meeting will be held in the auditorium.  Refreshments will be served courtesy of Upper Crust Bagel Company and LexZee.
